Cherie R. Rome, a member of the Health First Medical Group, is an Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) board-certified by the Florida Board of Nursing. Cherie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) in 1992, from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, Fl. She earned a Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) in 2011, also from UCF, with a specialization in Family Nurse Practitioner.
Before joining Health First, Cherie served as an APRN for a Gastroenterologist (GI) in Titusville where she diagnosed, and treated patients with current GI complaints. She also established care for colon cancer screenings and follow-up.
Prior to her GI experience, Cherie then applied her nurse practitioner skills in the hospice setting, serving as an APRN for Hospice of St. Francis, helping to maximize quality end-of-life care for hospice patients.
Cherie held an APRN position for Brevard Endocrinology working with patients in the endocrinology setting. She provided primary management and comprehensive ongoing care of diabetic patients.
Cherie began her medical career as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Telemetry Department of a local hospital caring for acutely ill patients. She then served six years as a Charge RN for Cape Canaveral Hospital, providing care in the critical care setting. She later served as a RN for the ICU and Intravenous (IV) teams for Parrish Medical Center. While there, she served as a RN in the Interventional Radiology Department, where she provided ongoing assessment, evaluation, and sedation to patients during diagnostic guided invasive procedures and biopsies. She also assisted with heart catheterizations, endovascular stenting, and pacemaker and Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD) placement.
