Dr. Barnes was born in Rybinsk, Russia, and attended medical school at Yaroslavl, located on the beautiful Volga River.
In 1995, she came to the United States as an exchange student for James Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, TN where later she enrolled and completed her Internal Medicine Residency.

Her interest in research of rheumatic diseases brought her to University of Florida, where she coordinated studies on lupus. After completion of her fellowship in rheumatology, she practiced in Stuart Florida and continued her clinical research activities in various rheumatic and non-rheumatic diseases. Dr. Barnes relocated to the Melbourne area in March of 2007 with her husband and daughter.

Her special professional interests include lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and autoimmune conditions. Her personal interest and hobbies include the Florida Gators, traveling, spending time with family on the beach, watching classic ballet and old movies. Dr. Barnes speaks English and Russian fluently.
