Jose Alvarez, MDPain Management
Dr. Alvarez grew up in Miami, Florida, and is fluent in English and Spanish. He completed his undergraduate studies in Microbiology at the University of Miami, and graduate studies at the University of South Florida. Dr. Alvarez graduated from medical school at Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico. He completed a general surgery internship at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and an anesthesiology residency at State University of New York (SUNY) in Brooklyn. Dr. Alvarez completed an Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at New York Medical College and St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in New York, NY.
To help his patients become more functional and productive, Dr. Alvarez utilizes the most current interventional procedures for the treatment of chronic and complex pain conditions. These procedures include transforaminal/translaminar epidurals, facet blocks, Botox, peripheral nerve injections, trigger point injections and sympathetic blockade. More specialized procedures such as spinal cord stimulators and radiofrequency neurolytic techniques are also available.
