Julie Ferguson, Nurse Practitioner, Supervising (NP,S)Family Medicine
Julie Ferguson is a Board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) serving patients at our Health First’s Viera Hospital Medical Plaza. Julie earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at the West Chester University in West Chester, PA. She then earned a Master of Science degree in Nursing with an emphasis on Cardiopulmonary Clinical Nurse Specialist, at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. She recently earned a Post-Master’s Certificate, Family Nurse Practitioner, from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND. She completed an Internship in Critical Care at St. Francis Hospital, the Intermediate Care Unite (telemetry) in Wilmington, DE.
Following her education, Julie began her healthcare career as a Staff Nurse with Kahu Malama Nurses in Honolulu. She provided direct nursing care on a per-diem basis at several hospitals, She worked on several units, including medical/surgical, telemetry, and mother/baby. Julie then joined Health First as a Staff Nurse in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation at Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center. She developed exercise prescriptions and cardiovascular risk reduction plans for patients with cardiopulmonary disease. She supervised exercise sessions, instructed patients on heart health topics, assisted the team in acquisition of national certification for the program, and served as the professional liaison to Mended Hearts Support Group by securing speakers for monthly meetings. She served as a Diabetes Resource team member and participated in two community blood pressure screenings yearly. Julie then became a Diabetes Educator for Health First Health Plans.
Julie moved to Colorado, where she served as a Nurse Consultant for Golden Orchard Assisted Living in Castle Rock, CO. In 2005 she served as School Nurse for Falcon Creek Middle School in Cherry Creek School District, Aurora, CO.
From 2010 to 2012, Julie served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, while she was attending college.
Most recently Julie served as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner for OMNI Healthcare in the Endocrinology Clinic in Melbourne.
Julie is certified as an APRN (Florida), a Family Nurse Practitioner (by the AANP), a Certified Diabetes Educator, and a Critical Care Registered Nurse with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is certified in both Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
