Sara Switzer, MDInternal Medicine
Sara Switzer, MD is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She currently shares her Cocoa Beach practice with fellow Health First Medical Group, Ramesh Girjashanker, MD.
Dr. Switzer and Dr. Girjashanker’s practice is not your average walk-in clinic. Their practice provides very personalized care. These physicians and their highly trained medical staff follow through with all of their patients. This is evident by treating the same patients and their love ones for years.
Dr. Switzer knew since an early age that she wanted to work in medicine. The most influential person who contributed to her becoming a physician was her father, a health education professor. She thrived in her studies and started her undergraduate education early due to having enough credits in high school that allowed her to skip her senior year. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. She won Alpha Omega Alpha Scientific Student award for her research with the department of Physiology at the University of Mississippi. She earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and completed a three year residency in internal medicine. She states that she loves the investigation work that comes with being a physician in internal medicine. She states that she gets to deal with all of the body systems instead of being familiar with one particular system. She enjoys the detective work. Her professional interests include geriatrics and women’s health. In 1985, she moved to Florida where she worked for four years as a staff physician in occupational medicine at the Kennedy Space Center. Since 1989 , she has been at the Cocoa Beach Walk-In Clinic. Although at the time it was Health First Walk-In Clinic, she officially joined Health First Physicians, Incorporated in 1996. In her free time she enjoys competing in PRO-AM ballroom dancing, spending time with her family, and volunteering. Dr. Switzer is part of the Health First Cape Canaveral Hospital medical staff.
